Preaching to the Choir?

Today, I finished reading the fifth Harry Potter book for about the seventh or eighth time (I lost count years ago), and I was planning on beginning the sixth, but sadly I had to start my required summer reading for school.

But I digress; the point is that whenever I am not reading anything I start the Harry Potter series over again. I never get sick of reading it. It's a classic, or at least it will be in years to come. If you haven't read the HP series, I highly recommend it. Now if you're one of those people who haven’t read it because you've been told that it's "against the Bible" or something similar, then let me just tell you this: HARRY JAMES POTTER IS A JESUS FIGURE!

Yep, that's right. Harry Potter is not, in fact, some devil's advocate who uses his magic powers for the forces of evil! That would be Lord Voldem-, excuse me, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The whole point of the series is basically that You-Know-Who (The Devil) is trying to kill Harry (Jesus), but Harry (SPOILER ALERT) eventually defeats him because Harry has the ability to love.

In fact, a friend of mine was not allowed to read the series because her mother believed it to be un-Christian and what-not. Then, after my friend relentlessly begged her mother for permission to read Harry Potter, her mother finally agreed to read the books to her. At first, her mom intended to have discussions after each chapter with her on how it was unlike the Bible, but was surprised to find that there were many allusions and similarities to the Bible.

So, if the reason you have yet to fall in love with the "Golden Trio" (like I, and many others have already done) because of your religion. Then I would rethink your decision to ignore this wonderful piece of literature, 'cause you're missing out.

If you have already followed Ron, Hermione, and Harry on their magical journeys, then you'll have to forgive me for "preaching to the choir" today. I promise to refrain from doing so in future blogs.
